Learning a Method Might Need to Learn a Implementation
FleetingI guess that you shouldn’t confuse the tool and the method, but that does not mean that they are not related.
I think that in several cases, you have to use a tool to practice a method. For instance, to learn nailing, you likely need a hammer and then learn how to use the hammer.
But, at some point, you should have enough experience to think the method apart from the tool and decide whether the tool that you are used to is that appropriate to apply the method. For example, you might realize that for the kinds of nails you have, a sledgehammer would be more appropriate than a claw hammer.
So don’t avoid learning tools, as they open your mind on what you can do. But don’t let the learning of the tool close your eyes on the method itself.
