Practicing a Method

Fleeting

When someone says per practices a given method and when this method is formally defined, there are three possible interpretation.

  1. per applies it by the book,
  2. per applies it partially, cherry picking whatever stuffs supposedly suits per,
  3. per didn’t read the definition and instead applies whatever someone else taught per,

3 it what we do with ordinary concepts. It follows the théorie causale de la référence and comes quite naturally. It is likely to be observed from people that did not learn how to study some formal document.

2 and 3 don’t bring much information in the conversation. Unless the context helps, they don’t follow the game of communication.

I try to follow 1. This as nothing to do with the discussion whether the method is good, sensible or appropriate for you. Si the is/ought_problem.
