Confirm First and Try to Reject After

Fleeting

confirm first and try to reject after

We tend to diabolise the confirmation bias, forgetting that it helps a lot making fast decisions in a lot of occasions.

Also, we tend to dream about a science where it is only about making hypotheses and failing to reject it.

I think that the method should be two folds.

  1. first, have a guess
  2. then, try to confirm the guess
  3. then, try to have good reasons to reject the guess

Maybe we tend to stop at the step 1 or 2, and this is a pity. But I don’t see how we can reach 3 without going first through 1 and 2.
