Allen Holub criticizes when a method becomes an end. He sometimes fall into the agile methods != agility fallacy, but in the end, he tries to have a discussion about how to our work the best way possible.
He describes that when people have the mindset of doing the process, they tend to loose the mindset of bringing value to stakeholders and therefore loose the objective of the method itself.
I guess he has a consequentialist approach of applying a method when some people have a more deontological approach.
